Community First!

The reason Mr. Yarnell is running for Commissioner, Pct 3, is to serve his community because he truly does have a servants heart for his community.  It is not about payroll or health benefits for Mr. Yarnell because he has a comfortable retirement and health benefits.

A county Commissioner's job is more than just roads and bridges. A county Commissioner in Texas has the following duties:

  • Represents one of four precincts within the county.
  • Typically, responsible for building and maintaining county roads and bridges within the precinct.

The Commissioners Court conducts the general business of the county and consists of the County Judge and four Commissioners.  The Court:

  • Adopts the county’s budget and tax rate.
  • Approves all budgeted purchases of the county.
  • Fills vacancies in elective and appointive offices.
  • Sets all salaries and benefits.
  • Has exclusive authority to authorize contracts.
  • Provides and maintains all county buildings and facilities.

A few things that make Mr. Yarnell right for the job of Commissioner, Pct 3:

  • Budget oversight for his local VFD as Fire Chief.
  • Financial administrator and Board member for a large rural water utility system.
  • Fire/EMS instructor at Kilgore Fire Academy.
  • Former elected Board member for Panola County Groundwater Conservation District.
  • Has served on numerous Board's in the past.
  • Has experience in supervising personnel and budget oversight in both the public and private sectors.
  • Military veteran with service in the Gulf War.
  • Former law enforcement officer.
